Concrete Foundations in the Dayton area
Foundation work is unforgiving — everything above it inherits the mistakes. We pour footers below frost line, form stem walls square and plumb, and coordinate with your inspector so the pour passes the first time.
What foundations work includes
- Footers poured below the local frost line
- Formed stem walls, square and plumb to survey
- Vapor barrier and reinforcement per spec
- Inspection coordination and documented pours
Footings go below the frost line, and in Ohio that is 32 inches
Ohio's residential code sets minimum footing depth at 32 inches below finished grade so that frost cannot get under the bearing surface and lift it. That depth is a floor, not a target: where the excavation exposes fill, soft clay, or a former trench line, the footing goes deeper until it reaches undisturbed bearing soil. Footing width is sized to the load above and the soil below, and both get confirmed before any steel is set.
Square, plumb, and documented — because everything above inherits it
Stem walls are formed to the survey line and braced to stay there under the pressure of a full pour, which is where rushed foundation work usually goes wrong. Reinforcement is lapped and tied, chaired off the base rather than laid on it, and a vapour barrier goes under interior slabs. Pours are scheduled around the inspector rather than the other way round, and each one is documented so there is a record of what went in the ground.
